Frequently asked questions

Honest answers to the questions fleet managers ask us most, from pricing and installation to DVS and driver acceptance.

General

Telematics is the combination of GPS positioning, vehicle sensors and mobile data connectivity that tells you where your vehicles are, how they are being driven and what condition they are in. Modern fleet telematics adds cameras and AI on top, so you also get video evidence and proactive safety alerts. Everything reports into one cloud platform.

Costs depend on fleet size, hardware choice and contract length. Tracking alone is the least expensive option; adding connected cameras and AI monitoring increases the investment but usually returns it fastest through claims defence and insurance savings. We itemise everything on your quotation so you can judge each element on its merits.

If you run five or more vehicles, telematics almost always pays for itself. Smaller fleets actually feel the benefit faster, because one fraudulent claim or one uninsured style incident can cost more than a year of the system. We support fleets from five vehicles upwards with the same platform and support as our largest customers.

You own your fleet data. It is stored in UK data centres, processed under a data processing agreement, and we provide guidance on the employee transparency obligations that come with tracking and cameras, including policy templates your HR team can adapt.

Installation and hardware

A tracking unit takes around an hour. A connected dash cam takes roughly ninety minutes per van. HGV camera systems and DVS packages take between two and four hours depending on the number of cameras and sensors. We schedule around your operation so vehicles keep working.

Yes, our own engineers install at your depots, operating centres or home addresses anywhere in the UK. We never subcontract fitting, which keeps quality consistent and gives you one point of accountability.

Faulty hardware is replaced under warranty, and the platform flags offline devices automatically so gaps do not go unnoticed. For most faults we arrange a swap at your site within a few working days.

Compliance and insurance

Increasingly, yes. Insurers reward demonstrable risk management: connected cameras, improving driver scores and a functioning safety programme. The strongest results come at renewal with six to twelve months of data behind you. We supply the evidence pack your broker needs.

The DVS requires every HGV over 12 tonnes to hold an HGV safety permit before operating in Greater London. Since 28 October 2024 the minimum is a three star rating or a fitted Progressive Safe System, enforced around the clock by ANPR with £550 penalty charges. If any of your HGVs enter the capital, it applies to you. See our DVS compliance page for the full picture.

Yes. FORS accreditation and CLOCS aligned contracts frequently require camera systems, side detection and audible warnings. Our multi camera and DVS packages satisfy these requirements, and we provide the installation documentation auditors ask for.

Platform and support

Yes. An open API feeds positions, events and journey data into transport management systems, routing tools and customer portals. Our team assists with integration during onboarding at no extra charge.

Full platform training at go live, a named account manager, UK phone and email support during working hours, and quarterly reviews covering your driver scores, alert volumes and savings. You will never be left with a login and a prayer.

We offer a range of terms to suit how you acquire vehicles, from rolling agreements to longer fleet terms with better pricing. Hire purchase style options are available on hardware. Your quotation will show the options side by side.
